Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting®?

Most of us have a few areas of fat that we cannot seem to get rid of. While these fat pockets may resist your efforts, they are no match for CoolSculpting®. This non-invasive treatment gives you a slimmer, more sculpted shape, and it will barely interrupt your daily routine!

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

CoolSculpting® is a non-surgical body sculpting treatment that reduces stubborn fat. It works by using applicators that lower the temperature of the skin and fat until fat cells start to freeze. Skin cells remain unaffected, while the treated fat cells have been damaged and will be removed by the body. Your lymphatic system will filter away these damaged cells, leaving the area more sculpted. 

What Happens During CoolSculpting®?

Your CoolSculpting® treatment will begin after your skin has been treated with a pre-treatment wipe and a gel pad is applied, then the CoolSculpting® applicators placed on your skin. Small areas may take as little as 35 minutes, while larger areas can take 60 minutes or more. You may feel cold and tingling when treatment begins, but the cold quickly makes your skin numb. You will feel comfortable reading, relaxing, or catching up on emails while CoolSculpting® does its work. 

Is There Any Downtime After CoolSculpting®?

When your Chill at Willow provider removes the CoolSculpting® applicators, they massage the treated area to break up frozen fat cells. You can then return to your daily activities with no downtime. The skin often looks red for a few hours to a few days after treatment. Numbness, sensitivity, and other minor effects typically resolve within days. 

You can encourage your body to remove damaged fat cells by staying physically active and well-hydrated. These will encourage lymphatic circulation and help your body get rid of the treated fat. Your provider will show you how to massage the treated area daily to break up and release the fat. We may recommend that you avoid NSAIDs like ibuprofen after treatment since they will decrease your body’s response to the damaged fat cells. 

What Results Will I See With CoolSculpting®?

CoolSculpting® results can start to appear a few weeks after treatment. You will see your full results within three months. The treated area will look smoother, slimmer, and flatter. CoolSculpting® results can last a lifetime since fat cells do not grow back. However, people who have an increase in weight may see changes in their results as the remaining fat cells expand. 

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting®?

The best candidates for CoolSculpting® are near their goal weight but have pockets of stubborn fat. Those with more body fat can still target problem areas and enjoy improvements. CoolSculpting® is safe for all skin types and tones. You should not have CoolSculpting® if you are pregnant or have an active skin condition in the treatment area.
