WHAT IS SCULPTRA?
Sculptra is a brand of injectable cosmetic fillers used to restore facial volume loss due to aging or illness. The FDA approved injections are made from poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible synthetic substance that stimulates collagen production in the skin. Rather than “filling in” the lost volume, Sculptra stimulates the body’s natural process of creating collagen to replenish volume in the treatment area.

Sculptra focuses on restoring volume loss in the face to achieve a healthier and more youthful appearance. The injections can be used to reduce wrinkles, restore plumpness, and erase deep lines, creases and folds.

SCULPTRA PROCEDURE
Prior to your treatment day, you will consult with our team to discuss medical history, the treatment area, and the desired results to assemble a treatment plan.
On treatment day, your doctor will mark the treatment area, cleanse the spot, and inject the skin using multiple small injections. In case of any discomfort, a topical anesthetic can be applied to soothe the treatment area.
Appointment time varies between 30-45 minutes depending on your treatment plan.
DOWNTIME
The best part about Sculptra is that there’s no downtime! Most patients return to their daily activities following their treatment.
PAIN, BRUISING, SWELLING,
Sculptra is a safe and, virtually, painless procedure. You may experience slight pain as the injection is administered with some post-treatment discomfort. Redness, swelling, and bruising may occur, but can easily be managed with over-the-counter medication.
HOW MANY INJECTIONS DO I NEED?
To achieve the best results, patients may need one to three sessions scheduled about a month apart. Depending on the severeness of the volume loss, six sessions may be recommended to achieve optimal results.
After discussing your aesthetic goals and reviewing medical history, we will create a treatment plan with the recommended number of sessions needed to achieve the desired results.
HOW LONG BEFORE I SEE RESULTS?
Sculptra stimulates natural collagen production, a process that takes time. Mild results become noticeable about 6 weeks after your first treatment, but the best results appear after 2-3 sessions.
HOW LONG DOES SCULPTRA LAST?
Sculptra is exceptionally long-lasting since it works differently from other dermal fillers. Unlike other fillers that inject substance into the skin that eventually dissolves, Sculptra causes a reaction in the skin which forms new collagen.
Results can last about two years, twice as long as other dermal fillers, with continued results if patients schedule annual touch ups.
